X-Men 3: The Last Stand

24And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds. Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching. Heb.10:24, 25 NIV

It figures that I would return to my weekly blog with a theme from one of my favorite comics as a kid. The X-Men live to save a world that hates them. These mutants, born with incredible gifts, are at the same time hated because of them. They pose a threat to those who have not been born with what is termed as a defect or a flaw in their DNA. This defect or flaw gives each of our merry mutants abilities that far surpass those of a “normal” human. This guy Professor X is a cross-cultural pioneering evangelistic pastor of a postmodern church. He scours the globe looking for people that he can invite to his church, much like how Christ scours the world for people who would accept His invitation to newness of life.  At his church (the School for Gifted Youngsters), young people are accepted and reassured that they are in a safe place. He gives them the freedom to express their ideas and teaches them that they can be salt and light in the world. His gospel is one of tolerance and peace, of co-existing with people who are not like them to create a better world.

Those who have been with Pastor X the longest have adopted his views and serve as leaders to those who are new to church. Are you willing to risk your life for someone who wishes for your death? Are you despised, put down, or made to feel different because of your gifts? The Bible says that we should not stop meeting together (at church) like others tend to do, but we are to encourage each other, and learn to love those who would despitefully use us. We are all born with a flaw in our DNA, ever since the day of the fall. At the same time, we are given these incredible gifts that we try to hide because of the attention we might receive. Well I would like to invite you to a place where you’ll be safe. A place where you can be equipped to be salt and light in a world that’s not so happy about you knowing about yourself. A place where everyone can be special when washed in the blood of the lamb. A place where regardless of your gift, you have a position and that position will be at the welcome table. We’ll never be normal until we reach our heavenly home, but until then I’ll meet you at the church of the true cross-cultural pioneering evangelist, Christ. Take your stand today.
